Memoriam for Alumni
Jerry SIEVER '83 Vice-President, read the names of those who have passed away since our last meeting

See the 2017 Program for the complete list of names

Pete MILLER - 1967 (50 Year Class)
Pete began by noting that their class graduated 42 and since that time have lost five classmates - Tim BOWERS Aug 20, 1971, Delores BARNGROVER Aug 31, 2001, Mike YOUNG Mar 21, 2008, Jack ZOLLMAN Mar 27, 2011, David HEFLEY 2014

The Principal and Football Coach was Jay Minear, Class sponsors were Robert Ames and Judy Lou Wright, Track coach in the Senior year was Carol Percival - the senior trip was to Kalfran Lodge on the Lake of the Ozarks and we had a good time.

Pete said "you won't believe how quickly 50 years goes by, but it's great to be back and see old friends"

"Good Luck to the Class of 2017"

Norvin STUNKEL - 1952
Their class had 18 students; 10 boys and 8 girls and have lost 4 boys, and 6 girls. Tonight there are 5 guys present - 5 out of 6.

Their class motto is "Not At The Sunset, But At The Dawn", but the class was discussing that maybe the wording should be changed a little.

The class feels very fortunate to have gone to Belle Plaine High School - their children and grandchildren have attended large schools where they didn't know their classmates. In a small school, you knew everyone and were involved with many of the activities.

Norvin ended on a personal note about his father Fred STUNKEL who graduated 100 years ago in 1917

Kay McMillan DENISTON - 1957
14 classmates in attendance tonight - 60 years ago and still able to stand.

We have a special guest tonight - Coach Razook.

Drinking juice, false teeth, white hair, gimpy knee - but still proud to be here

Wonderful place to go to school as you all know. When we graduated we all had our hopes and dreams (today I don't remember a one of mine)

And I will tell you young people tonight that whatever hopes and dreams you have will change. Life will get in the way, life will probably take over - it certainly did for us, but it's been a good life. I think that I'm the luckiest woman who ever lived. Lots of family and friends in the audience, had four generations who graduated from Belle Plaine

At previous annual meetings, the speakers would mention the price of gasoline back then - but today the price of printer's ink is $5,638/gallon

John PATTRICK - 1962
We graduated 29 and have lost 5 - Nelda Jo Baer DREW, Dick HAMILTON, Jack ROW, Danny WALTON, and Roger EHMKE

Many classes claim Coach Razook, but he's really with us tonight - and Roy Smith, always a part of this gathering, will be missed.

Too many experiences to talk about in this short amount of time, but we had fun.

On May 12 this year, just 4 days after his birthday, we lost Roger EHMKE - in memory of Roger, the young people of today who think they started the trend of wearing their pants low, Roger did it very well in the 60s

Thanks you and welcome class of 2017

Judy Wooldridge GRABER - 1956
Judy introduced the board members of the Scholarship fund - Jim WHARTON-1972, LaDora Lauterbach BISHOP-1956, Michelle Holinde HAMILTON-1977, Renee Ingram JONES-1976, and Judy Wooldridge GRABER-1956

In 1997, we gave our first $100 scholarship - we've come a long way since then - last year's meeting raised $2200 and we challenge this group to beat that.

We have a very generous donor (Alumni) who has given $8000 for (2) Dragon scolarships for attending a 4 year college. Other money is from memorials, this year we had - Charlene Waugh STILWELL, and Tim & Cheryl Dunn BAUMGARTNER

Abagail DETRICK
