Minutes of the 114th Belle Plaine High School Alumni Reunion
May 27, 2006
Welcome and Invocation
Co-Presidents: Renee Ingram Jones and Wayne Riddle (Class of 1976), opened the meeting with welcoming remarks. The invocation was delivered by Charles Bishop (Class of 1957). The class of 2006 was welcomed into the Alumni Association. Lindsay Hatfield, the class president, gave her acceptance and thanks.
The generational graduates from the Class of 2006:Fifth Generation: Evan Helm
Fourth Generation: Lindsay Hatfield, Dusty Hatfield, and Will Narron
Third Generation: Nate Burrows and Jolene Pierson
Second Generation: 16 second generation graduates
Earliest Alumni Present:
Hazel Walton Cheaver (Class of 1926) and Paul Nye (Class of 1928)
Honor of the 50th Year Class:
The 50th Anniversary Class of 1956 was introduced and yellow roses were passed out by the new Alumni Class of 2006. Tom Snyder gave the response for the class by sharing memories and recognizing classmates that are deceased
In Memoriam
Co-Vice President, Ted Davis (1957), presented the Memoriam and led the Alumni in prayer. Kim Whipple Young (1976) once again prepared the Memoriam Board honoring the deceased graduates.
Alumni Scholarships
Judy Wooldridge Graber (1956) made five $500 Alumni Scholarship presentations to the following 2006 class members that were present:

Shauna Crumley
Andrew Hartley
Melissa Hatch
Cherie Lawrence
Judy was dressed in the "traditional" chocolate and gold attire that would have been worn on a Friday game day in 1956. The hat was passed and $986.00 was collected from members in attendance.
Honor Anniversary Classes
The Honor Anniversary classes were presented and the class speakers were as follows:
70th - Dorothy Cooper Hunt .
60th - Lloyd Coon
55th - Sue Carter Hunt
50th -Tom Snyder
45th - Delbert Wharton
40th - Janie Blankenship Brown
35th- Raymond Liggett
30th – Leslie Gourlay McVay
20th – Mindy Chom Fuller
15th- Shannon Kelly
10th- Troy Moore
5th - Holly Baker
Recognition of Guests
Co-President, Wayne Riddle acknowledged the following guests that were present:
Coach Farris Razook, Coach Don McVay, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Burdette, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy & Mary Lou Smith.

The 50th year class of 1956, with 22 classmates present
Alumni who traveled the farthest
This was a close race between Jesse Hatfield (1945) from Black Diamond, WA and Brenda Smith Shertz (1966) from Roanoke, VA.
Ending Remarks
Wayne Riddle thanked the Alumni Committee for all their work and presented a plaque to Cassie Anderson Murray, Judy Wooldridge Graber, and Renee Ingram Jones for "keeping the chocolate and gold a floating".
Alma Mater
The Alumni sang the Alma Mater that was led by Solon Hunt (1945) and accompanied by Judy Wooldridge Graber (1956).
